Coastguards have been puzzled by a series of red flare-like lights spotted in the Bristol Channel off the coast of Somerset, England, on the night of December 14.
The Portishead lifeboat was launched following dozens of 999 callerss reported two red lights off the coast at Clevedon.
But no sign of any persons or vessel in distress had been found after three hours of searching.
