UFO Sightings, Other Phenomena,
Active In Pennsylvania During 2002Posted July 10.02
Recently I posted a number of UFO sightings under the topic: "UFO
Sightings
Active In Pennsylvania During 2002"
I listed a sighting that I had initial information on that occurred
on June 24,
2002 near
Gettysburg, PA. Since interviewing the witness, and having had the
opportunity
to view the video tape of the object, it has been determined that the
object was Venus.

Reports of UFO sightings and other mysterious events have been ongoing
throughout 2002. Strange large footprints are being investigated by
the (PBS)
The Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society. Rumors of actual Bigfoot sightings,
and the
reported recent sighting of two possible Thunderbirds (the legendary
giant bird)
in the Northeast part of the state, have been of interest. UFO
sightings
however, have been the most commonly reported phenomena.
Both the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and my PA UFO Hotline
have been
active with alleged sighting reports.
These sightings have been reported monthly. Many of the UFO
observations which I
have investigated appear to be explainable. Some can be attributed to
bright
meteors, and misidentfications of bright stars and planets. Some of
the UFO
incidents however are indeed interesting and deserve mention.
February 21, 2002-Saltsburg, PA, Indiana County-(Source: NUFORC) -The
witness
first observed a white light through the trees. The light began to
intensify in
brightness. Suddenly a large triangular object estimated to be 100
yards in
length rose up into the sky moving eastward. There were three bright
lights at
each corner of the object. After about 5 seconds, the object which
had been
silent, suddenly disappeared, but a low rumbling vibration sound was
heard as
the object left the area.
April 10, 2002-Pittsburgh, PA, Peters Township-The witness has
experience as a
pilot. He was driving home at around 11 P.M., when he observed a
bright white
diamond shaped object hovering low in the sky. The object was
observed for about
4 minutes when it suddenly "just vanished."
April 15, 2002-Clarksburg, PA, Indiana County-Two people traveling in
a car near
Clarksburg on Route 286, observed something odd in the sky at about
8:30 P.M.
The passenger in the car noticed a bright light and pointed it out to
the
driver.
The light suddenly disappeared. Soon a bright light appeared again
that was
moving very slowly. The light which was very low in the sky began to
move
towards them and hovered just above the trees. They could now seen an
object
which was estimated to be the size of a bus, but had the general
shape of an
aircraft fuselage. It was however described as "to fat" for an
airplane.
The object appeared to have two short wings, which appeared to small
for the
body of the craft. There was a red light on each wing that was
non-blinking.
There was a very bright light at the front of the object. One witness
emphasized
the wide "fat" body of the silent object. The object continued to
hover over the
trees as they passed by. They lost sight of it as they traveled down
the road.
May 14, 2002-Harrison City, PA, Westmoreland County-The witness was
traveling
east on the PA turnpike at about 9:55 P.M. when he noticed an object
in the sky,
hovering at a low altitude. What was seen was described as two square
lights
side by side at a 45 degree angle, gold in color and flashed
alternately, left,
right, left right.
June 24, 2002-Gettysburg, PA-At about 9:45 P.M., the witness reported
seeing an
orange rectangular shaped object in the western sky. The object was
there long
enough to obtain about 10 minutes of video footage. The object was
still visible
just before 10 P.M. when the park was closing, forcing the witness to
leave the
area.
