On the evening of September 2, Tang Zingchong Chong returned home late and was surprised to see three bright orange lights in a dark sky hovering over the Western Hills of Kunming, China.
Tang described them as appearing "fiery red" and "dazzling", saying he thought at first they might be an aircraft but later regarded the distance between the points too close and the location not consistent with local flight paths.
The witness also discounted these "bright spots" as representing a hot-air balloon, adding the sighting lasted some 10 minutes before the UFO disappeared in the night sky.
Kunming Airport staff said later that at the time of this incident [22:30], there were a number of aircraft in the general area and suggested Mr. Tang may have observed one of these.
