From Researcher: Stan Gordon
Reports of UFO sightings and other anomalies continue
to be reported during 2005 from across the Keystone state. Both my PA
UFO Hotline as well as the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) have
been receiving reports of strange observations in the sky. I have also received
information concerning alleged Bigfoot activity occuring in some
locations as well. The PA Bigfoot Society (PBS) has also been
investigating some possible Bigfoot encounters. Some of
the UFO sightings specially of recent date, are indeed
misidentifications of bright planets and stars.
The following is a brief summary of some of the sightings which have been reported this year:
* Westmoreland County -
I received a report from a witness
who reported seeing a creature which fits the description of a
Bigfoot. The sighting took place on January 2, 2005, at a rural location
along the Chestnut Ridge. The incident occurred about 6:30 P.M.. It was
almost dark, but enough light remained to be able to see for a distance.
The witness who was visiting a local family, was loading up his vehicle
for a return trip to his home. His attention was drawn to a field
across the road which was about 40 feet away from where he was hearing
a loud crashing sound, and the noise of brush breaking. The man crossed
the roadway and looked around expecting a large buck to exit the area.
Moments later, he noticed to his left about 100 to 150 feet distance, a
very large man-like figure moving through the field. He was able to get
a good look at the creature which he estimated stood between 7 1/2 and 9
feet tall, was dark brown or black in color, entirely covered in hair,
and walking erect on two legs. The witness could see
that it had massive arms which hung down
to the knees, and swung gracefully as it walked up the hill. The head of
the creature seemed to be cone-shaped and no neck was
observed. The witness indicated that as the creature continued on
it's path at one point it seemed to look towards him, but never changed
it's pace.
What impressed the witness was how fast the creature
was moving up hill in the nearly dark conditions. The creature was
covering a large amount of ground in it's strides in a short time. When the
creature reached the horizon, the witness could see the
shape of the creature clearly with the light behind it.
The creature moved into a tree line and was lost from sight. The
witness observed the creature for about a minute to 90 seconds. The witness
is an avid sportsman who had heard stories about such creatures in
the area, but until now had never experienced anything like this.
* The Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society (PBS) is
investigating a possible Bigfoot encounter in Elk County which occurred on
February 14, 2005. A man and his two sons were driving in their vehicle on
Route 555 near the town of Benezette, PA. The fellows were driving to
their hunting camp when at about 11 A.M., they reported observing a tall
creature covered in dark hair, and having reddish eyes standing along
the road. The family was astonished by what they saw, and after
passing the creature, turned back to take another look. The creature had
apparently entered the woods and was not seen again.
* March or early April, 2005 - Smithfield, PA -
(This
sighting information is courtesy of UFO researcher Jim Brown who interviewed
the witness.) The UFO sighting occurred about sundown as the witness was
taking a walk to look at a work site.
Suddenly, about 300 feet distance, he noticed a brilliant light move
from a pond area, then over some trees and cross the
road ahead. The object was very bright, and was giving off light as it
moved. At that point, the man lost sight of the odd object. It was
about 10 seconds later when another similar light appeared, and followed
the same path as the first one.
Minutes later, the man saw both lights fly from the
woods back, and diving down towards the pond. The witness saw no
indication that the lights had gone into the pond once he was able to find
a better observation point. Five minutes later, the two lights
flew passed again.
It was getting darker outside, and the witness was
preparing to headhome. According to the witness
as told to Jim Brown, "Just then one light came from
out of the woods.
It started over the road like it did last time, only
this time it stopped over the road like it saw me standing there.
It hovered a second, then the other one came out of the woods and
joined it. Almost as soon as the second one got there, both of them flew
off much faster that they had been before. They went under the railroad
bridge. Not over it, under it mind you. That was the last I saw them."
The witness described the objects as being football
shaped, and a little larger than a football in size. They were glowing and
white in color.
The objects appeared to be giving off light since the sun was down when observed. The witness said that it took about 3 or 4
seconds for the objects to cross the road. He estimated that the
objects were moving at about 40 to 50 miles per hour. The objects were about
100 feet above the ground, but were much lower when they passed under
the bridge. The bridge is only about 14 feet high.
* July 27, 2005 - Greensburg, PA -
The witness lives in a
rural area outside of town, and was walking with his dog when at about
10:30 P.M., he reported seeing an unusual object in the western sky
moving towards the south. It was a moonlit night and the sky was cloudy.
The object appeared to be shaped like a top and could easily be
seen as it was backlit from the light of the moon. What first drew the
attention of the witness was a low pitched humming sound, not typical of
an aircraft. The witness continued to watch, and was able to see some
details on the object.
The witness was able to see 3 red lights that were
located in the center part of the object. These lights which blinked in
sequence, extended vertically from to to bottom. There were 2 steady green
lights on the right and left side of the object. Also visible were a
series of dim white or opaque lights which the witness explained
looked almost like windows with a candle in
them across the object. The object was observed for
about 1.5 minutes as it moved slowly towards the south. The object moved so
slow that it gave the impression that it was hovering over the area. The
sound of the object became louder as it approached closer to the
location of the witness.
The dog suddenly began to bark and was looking in
another direction.
The man turned his attention towards the north and
observed a second object in the distant sky which he felt was probably a
meteor. The object was moving extremely fast from north to south.
What was interesting to the observer, was that moments after the
meteor-like object appeared, the first object
suddenly moved off in the same direction as the second
object, and it seemed to vanish in seconds. The witness was of the
opinion that it was impossible for any known object of that size to move as
fast as it did.
The witness also felt that continuing on a straight
path, the top shaped object would have intersected with the other object at
nearly a 90 degree angle, at a far off point in the sky.
* August 24, 2005-Vandergrift, PA -
At 5:20 A.M. the
witness was located
north of Vandergrift at the time of the observation.
The man was loading
up his vehicle to go on a trip and had looked skyward,
when he saw a strange object moving from the northwest and turning
towards the east.
The object appeared to be silver in color, and was
described by the witness as looking,
"a little flatter than a football shape with a bump on
top." The object was silent and was observed for a long distance as it
moved across the area.
Not long after the witness saw the first object, his
attention was drawn to a large second object which he speculates was some
type of aircraft coming from the direction of Pittsburgh. This object
which also was silent, appeared triangular in shape and looked to the
witness like a stealth aircraft, with a pointed front section, and a
flat bottom. This craft also displayed 2 yellow lights, and a red
blinking light on the rear section. The craft appeared to slow down as
though to match the speed of the first object which was still crossing the
sky. The football shaped object continued moving towards the
east. The triangular craft suddenly picked up speed and chased the first
object across the hill until they were gone from sight. The witness was
very excited when he called my UFO hotline just after the observation.
This witness was certain that he had seen something unusual.
