UFO experts are puzzled about strange lights over the Hednesford area.
Three separate reports have been made about lights sweeping left to right and back again above the clouds.
One resident contacted The Post to say he witnessed the phenomena at 4.45am on Sunday.
The resident, who does not wish to be named, said: "It was like a lighthouse above the clouds. The light was not coming from the ground, but above the clouds. It was not a jet or helicopter as it stayed in the same place. I wonder if anyone else noticed or could explain what it was."
Staffordshire UFO co-ordinator Graham Allen confirmed two other sightings had been reported on Friday and Sunday evening. In each case, the lights were moving left to right, in a swinging motion.
He described the events as ' curious' and did not believe they were laser lights coming from the ground.
"When I first heard, I thought it was a planet, perhaps Jupiter or Mars, on the horizon," he said.
"But planets do not move backwards and forwards."
