Original headline: X-File opens in Chronicle country as mysterious lights are spotted.
Special agents Mulder and Scully would have a field day investigating Chronicle country's very own X-File, after mysterious lights were spotted in the sky.
Several people have reported seeing strange flashes of light illuminating the night sky on Monday (September 13).
The flashes, which lasted around three seconds each, happened between around 9pm and 10pm.
One resident witnessed the phenomenon as she stood at the Recreation Centre in Biggleswade, while her friend who was driving home from Cambridge also saw them.
She said: "We didn't know if it was lightning but there was no thunder. It really lit up the sky, it was like a blanket of light. It didn't look like anything I had seen before."
A Biggleswade office worker spotted the lights as he drove home to Bedford from Sandy.
He said: "I wondered if it was fireworks but it was too far away and I didn't hear anything. It was very peculiar.
"It could be aliens, it did cross my mind. You did wonder as you were driving along and those lights were flashing above you if you were going to get teleported up somewhere."
Police also received two calls from the Haynes area about the mysterious lights, which left them baffled.
They suggested the lights had been caused by fireworks.
