Miami's Ancient Circle Discovery

An amazing discovery is made in the middle of Miami’s furious financial world– a mysterious circle that is a window to the distant past...to the FIRST people who called South Florida home.

      The circle feature is characterized by cut post holes that create a 38 foot diameter. They also mound a true North-South line and a true East-West geodetic line inscribed inside that circle, and that’s the basis for archaeologist’s belief that this is an astronomical observatory carved perhaps 2,000 years ago.

    If this truly is an astronomical circle it may even be a world historic site since there are about only four or five of them throughout the world. Its uniqueness alone makes it significant: nothing like this has ever been found here in Florida.

    The discovery pulled the rug out from under a new luxury high rise tower scheduled to be built there.
