While what happened took place a number of years ago, 1952 in fact, my sighting of a UFO still remains very clearly in my mind and I will describe every detail I can recall. The event occurred in Hunstanton, a small seaside town on the north coast of Norfolk, and it was approximately 11.30pm on a very dark night, with no moon visible as far as I can remember. I was 19 at the time and roller-skating on a small rink by the sea-front. There were about twelve people on or around the rink also, all strangers too me.

The rink had its own record-player and a speaker system and it was on this that the first signs something unusual was occurring appeared. For the speakers started to whistle -- softly at first and then steadily increasing in volume until eventually the noise became unbearable. It was a sound similar to that one gets from an amplifier if the microphone is held too near it. The attendent had to switch the system off.

Someone then shouted "Look!" and pointed to the sky. We all looked up and above us, at a height of 1,000 feet or so, was a circular disc. As we watched it slowly descended to approximately 300 feet; nobody moved or spoke for we were literally rooted to the spot, as this 'Thing' was stationary above us.

It was large, somewhere around 50 feet in diameter, and the metal, or whatever material it was constructed from, seemed to me to be alive; it gave off a soft bluish glow. The centre of this disc remained still but the outside rim, which was about ten or twelve feet wide, was slowly revolving. I didn't notice any undercarriage structure but there appeared to be windows, or ports, spaced around the centre portion of the craft. At no time did I see anything move behind them, they were difficult to perceive anyway; due, I think, to the radiance that was given off by the whole machine.

For about three minutes it stayed in this position, then slowly it began to move eastward, gradually increasing its speed until what seemed no time at all its size decreased to that of a star and then it disappeared completely.
