THE ALIENS ENCOUNTER THE PARANORMAL |

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
If you've found yourself reading this its probably because you're
interested in the orb phenomena, or music; either way sit back,
relax, and let me tell you how we got to this point.
First, band introductions. Shed, is a singer and guitarist, with the
aliens, and a songwriter + singer with the brickshed. Flash is the
bass player, and the member of the aliens who always gets the
audience in the mood to rock. Orby Chance, is the drummer with the
Colgate smile and tight leather boots. Cosmo S. Crop circle is the
stand-in bass player in the aliens when Flash is otherwise engaged,
but also joins us on bigger gigs with vocals + guitar. That leaves me,
I'm Brick, the vocalist with the aliens, and co-songwriter and singer
with brickshed. I'm also the narrator of this story. If it sounds
complicated don't worry, it comes down to a bunch of guys who like to
get together and make music, while using stupid names which mostly
amuse themselves. This is a side effect of being in a band known as
the aliens, ----but that part comes later.
Now for the story, it all began in late August 2001, when Shed and I
visited a crop circle on Windmill Hill, Alton Barnes, Wiltshire. At
the time it was the largest and most elaborate design to have
appeared anywhere in the world. It was called the galaxy, and
consisted of over 400 circles. We had read about this on reports over
the net, and seen some articles in the papers.
We had both been interested in unusual phenomena/aliens for a number
of months previously, when we began writing songs about the subject.
Although, with hindsight it wouldn't be too far off the mark to say
that the songs seemed to write themselves. You see, I'm already
referring to things that happened before we went to the crop circles.
This is the problem with telling a story, the more you think about
it, the more you begin to wonder if it didn't all start a long time
ago, perhaps even before we were born. Still, we don't have time to
go there at the moment. Thats another story.
Taking Shed's son, balancing boy with us, we drove to Wiltshire to
see for ourselves the best crop circle to have appeared by far. When
we found it we put some money in the box for the farmer, parked the
car, and walked up to the top of Milk Hill. We passed a few other
sightseerers on the way, and when we reached the top there were more
people around, but it was unusually quiet.
Clearly some people were finding it a very spiritual experience. I
was not at that time, and I don't think Shed was either. I recall
being excited though, I wanted to believe that this was the work of
aliens. Indeed, looking at it, it was hard to believe that it could
be anything else. It was impressive, over 400 circles! If it was
man-made it took a lot of people. Still, it was right on top of milk
hill and looking around we realised that if you could reach the hill
under cover of darkness, with enough people, it might be possible. It
is secluded. It was still impressive though, and wandering around and
snapping off pictures, it was almost easier to believe that aliens
had made the circles. I did notice that the birds preferred not to
come into the circles, and stayed on the edge of the field. Balancing
boy played, and we wondered, along with many other people to have
visited the site, what was going on. Something was. I realised that
if the circles were man-made this was an incredible feat.
I preferred to believe that it was aliens and would have been quite
happy to go on believing that, had Shed not discovered flattened 12
inch wide circles laying beneath the main crop circles. This sowed
seeds of doubt within both of us. Could this mean that the circles
were made by human beings? Whatever, or whoever, it was a thing of
beauty.
During the journey back home we discussed the possibilities, and
came to the conclusion that the circles were probably man-made, but
we couldn't be 100% sure of anything.
The week of the terrorists attacks in September I was on holiday, to
be more exact I was at home trying to put together the new album
cover. While surfing the net one lunchtime, I also had half an eye on
the T.V, and then the reports began. I watched the second plane hit
live, along with many other viewers I was horrified but fascinated,
and could not tear my eyes away from the screen. It was during these
moments that I witnessed a white cylindrical object shoot into view
and come to a dead stop in mid air. It held its position for a few
seconds, and then zoomed off at a 90 degree angle and stopped again,
before moving off slowly to the right of the burning towers.
I immediately rang Shed and asked if he was watching the news. He
wasn't, but tuned in straight away. I told him what I had seen in an
excited, yet anxious way.
This is where fate plays a part in the story, or maybe it was just
Sheds good sense, but he put a video into one of his many machines
and pressed record. This time CNN were showing the attack from a
different angle, and you could clearly see the white cylindrical
object hovering, and then moving away from the twin towers. And we
have it on video!
Over the next few days Shed and I surfed the net, and scanned the
news to see if anyone else had seen what we saw. Apart from a couple
of small reports on the net, there was nothing. Trevor McDonald was
not talking about it on News at Ten! One of the reports on the net
said the object was a piece of fuselage!!! We have shown the video to
many people, none of them said that it looks like fuselage. All admit
they are seeing something strange. Another coincidence [ ? ] The
particular piece of footage with the object has not, to my knowledge,
been shown again during any T.V. reports.
For the next four months we concentrated on writing + recording
songs for what was to become the corn circles album. It was our goal
to complete the project by the end of the year. We seemed to be right
on schedule, in fact Shed had gone into overdrive, and was writing
songs at an amazing rate. He has said it was like the songs wrote
themselves, a feeling I had also experienced during songwriting
sessions on a number of occasions. Like I explained earlier, memory
is a funny thing, I now believe that we both had these experiences
during the recording of the album we had made in 2000, called
Hornyold Road, which had many references to aliens and spirits.
It was the usual rush to get everything finished by Christmas, but
to be accurate, the cover gave us more trouble than any aspect of the
music, which went extremely smoothly.
A lot of friends/fans and family members had been asking when the
album would be ready, and the cd's made cheap presents in monetary
terms, but a year of our lives was invested in this disc, and it was
important to us that it was well received. Many people who heard the
album were turned on to the spiritual aspect of the songs, and we
were pleased that people liked it.
Even though the corn circles album was finished, the songwriting
process had not. We teamed up with Cosmo in January 2002 and he
joined us in songwriting sessions. We invited another friend, Jesus,
to play drums on some tracks. It was during this period in January
that events began to take a strange turn.
Shed was contacted by something! Even now we are not sure by whom,
or what.
This is the hard bit, how much to tell people without sounding crazy.
O.K. here's the deal, we don't know who or what it was. Not for
definite. We only have theories. It is important that you, the
reader, comprehend what a frightening experience this was, chiefly
for Shed, but also for those who witnessed the aftermath, myself
included. The voices [ for thats what they were ] gave Shed some
information.
However, due to the fact that it was such a strange occurrence the
whole situation was very hard to take in, and the information he was
giving us was in a mixed up, confused way. It was only later, when we
sat down and began to disseminate what had happened, that we got a
bit spooked. During the encounter Shed was asked if he wanted to see
who he was talking to, understandably in the circumstances he
declined the offer.
The next few weeks were spent contemplating what had occurred, and
as usual, the best way to do this was through music. We poured our
energies back into writing songs, recorded our thoughts about the
events, and used the process as a cathartic way of moving forward.
One evening in late February I was returning from a night out in
Cardiff, and while waiting at the traffic lights saw a bright white
light fly over my car. Don't even go through with the thought that I
must have been drinking, I was not.
The cloud cover was low and this bright light was below the clouds!
All the way back home the light appeared to be with me, always on the
right side of the car. At one point I pulled over to have a look at
it through my binoculars, but even when it looked bigger, it was
still just a white light. The journey from Cardiff to home usually
takes around an hour, with no hold-ups, that night it only took me 40
minutes. I've never really explained that to myself satisfactorily.
I seemed to gain time!
Getting out of the car I looked up and the light was still there. I
walked quickly to my flat, drew the curtains, and went to bed.
Something told me I just wanted this day over.
The next morning I visited a friend for brunch and began telling her
about my experience, before I had chance to get far into the story,
she interrupted me and said, 'Oh, you saw that light in the sky as
well.' She proceeded to tell me that she had watched this light hang
over the church for over an hour! I was relieved that someone else,
who's judgment I trusted, had observed it too.
During this time I was reading about others, whoÕs lives had been
affected in similar ways, on the web. It was clear that we were not
the only people in the world to be contacted by something.
While looking at Lynda Moulten Howes website Earthfiles.com one
evening, I glanced upon a report about spirit orbs near the crash
sites, following the terrorists attacks. It showed a picture which
had multiple orbs floating around head height, at a shrine in
Pennsylvania, where one of the planes had come down. Many people
reported having orbs in their pictures, many others reported seeing
ghosts.
It was also in late February that I received an unexpected, but
welcome telephone call from Orby Chance. Orby and Flash had both been
playing with other bands while Shed and I had turned our attentions
to recording. After two years of songwriting + recording we were
ready to play live again, and it would be nice to play some favourite
cover versions, and have fun with the crowds, as we had done in the
past.
We met up with Orby + Flash, and realised that this had a good
feeling about it. Shed and I agreed that we had missed the guys, and
it was great to see them again. Orby already had some gigs lined up,
and introduced us to a new agent called Dealer, who with his partner
Destiny Angel, provide the lighting for gigs.
It is at this point that I feel its time to mention Mother Nature.
Mother, is a long time friend of myself and Shed. She should probably
have made an entrance earlier in the story but, you know, the memory
thing again + its often a good idea to keep Mother waiting a bit.
Patience not being her number 1 quality.
Anyway,Tuesdays were reserved for songwriting and practising new
songs. It was easier, geographically speaking, if we met at Cosmo's. Mother
lives just around the corner, so often when we had enough of jamming,
we turned up at Mothers for coffee and inspirational chat.
It was also at this time that Jesus, Mum's son, was putting down
drum tracks for some of the new songs. So we had more reason than
usual to be around at Mothers. Notably, because Jesus was always
late. He is one of those people who have to do something just as
everyone else is about leave!!!! This thing could take five minutes
or two hours!!!! No-one knows. Time to take a deep breath, He's a
good drummer, so it evens out. Karma and all that.
It was at one of these late night gatherings when the conversation,
inevitably it seemed, turned to the paranormal. Shed had been letting
more people know elements of the information he had been given, but
very few people had the whole story. I mentioned that I had seen the
orb reports on the web. We began discussing what type of phenomena
this was likely to be, aliens or spirits. I put my hand in my pocket
and found a 35mm Kodak throwaway camera with a flash. I remembered
that I had used it the day before on a visit to my aunt who was in
hospital. I had only used half the film. I began to flash off
pictures of the people in the room, in fact we had a laugh about it,
even posing with 'imaginary' orbs.
The next day I took the camera to the local Boots chemist, handed
the whole thing over, and asked for the one hour service. I collected
the photoÕs after doing a little shopping and opened them as I began
descending the stairs. I skimmed through the pictures, and I remember
thinking 'see, no orb....' and there it was, a perfect round sphere,
right in the middle of the shot. Looking closer, I could see more in
the same shot. I flipped through the set with a bit more care and
found orbs on approx, three quarters of the pictures taken at
Mothers. This was strange, but there might be another explanation
right?. Thats what I thought too, so I walked quickly back up the
stairs, and asked the technician behind the counter to explain what
these blemishes on the prints were. She couldn't. They printed off
another copy of one of the shots. The orbs were still there. They
were on the negatives too.
This was odd. There are no orbs in any of the pics taken at the
hospital, only at Mothers house. The next night we met up and
discussed the pictures. Everyone agreed that they were more than
coincidence.
We decided to repeat the experiment. Two weeks later I bought an
identical camera and we met at Mum's again. This time we were a little
more scientific, and tried shots from different angles or several
from the same position, you get the idea. I took them back to the
same shop and this time we got even more photo's with orbs. Some
containing multiple orbs in the same shot again. I have to admit,
this was not what I had anticipated, I fully expected the orbs to
turn out to be a fault with the camera or unusual light refractions,
this was not so easy to explain.
It was at this point that something even more bizarre happened. I
took the new set of pics to Sheds flat. During the evening we
practised some songs and studied the pictures. This was so hard to
believe. in fact I was thinking just that when something peculiar
took place.
Shed has a large window that takes up most of one wall. There are
two smaller windows at that end of the room also, one of which was
slightly ajar. We were studying the pictures when something hit the
wall to our left and made a loud dinging sound, like a bell ringing.
This caused us both to look in that direction. I then became aware of
a scrapping sound behind us. Shed and I turned our heads and watched
a picture of Bob Dylan swing slowly from side to side, it then
appeared to ripple upwards and suddenly flipped off the wall. I then
felt a little breath of wind kiss my cheek, and a cassette tape flew
over a pile of other tapes from the back of a shelf on the wall to
our right, and landed on the floor at our feet.
Things seemed to speed up then, I saw a small dark wispy thing fly
across the wall to our right, and hit a indoor T.V. antenna which was
placed on a floor standing speaker, at the end of the room. The
aerial vibrated at an alarming rate, and a screw that was laying on
the floor sprang up four feet in the air!, hit the aerial, and made a
loud pinging sound!!!!
We looked at each other, and I mumbled something about the wind. A
short time later, I asked Shed if he really thought the wind had
moved the things around earlier. He didn't, and neither did I.
Interestingly, the tape that landed at our feet was Gospel Bob, by
Dylan. A little more than coincidence I'm sure you will agree!
Tune in for the next episode of the story coming soon. Keep watching
the skies!!!!!
BRICK.
