Miracle Juice From Tree Cures Grandmother
[Original headline: Tree juice 'cures' old lady]
A 78-year-old grandmother was reportedly cured after being treated with the "miracle juice" coming from the Gmelina tree in Isla de Oro, this city.
The woman, identified as Maxima Labis, a resident of Camp Philips in Bukidnon province, went to Isla de Oro, Barangay 13 in order to be cured of her back pains.
Labis told dxIF Bombo Radyo in an interview Thursday that when she reached Isla de Orom, she could hardly walk from due to severe back pains.
After being administered with the "miracle gmelina juice" Labis said she began to feel better.
"Na arang-arang na man akong paminaw kay bugnaw man kaayo ang lana nga nidapat sa akong panit...pagbuot siguro sa Ginoo (My condition had improved because the liquid applied on me is cold...God must have done this)," Labis said.
A retired teacher who requested anonymity said she also had the Gmelina juice applied on her since she is also suffering from back pains.
She said she tried it if only to see whether it can cure her. "Wala pa man ni-epekto kay bag-o pa man nako gihaplas basin pila ka oras o ugma ba kaha (There's still no effect on me because I had just applied the liquid probably some hours later or tomorrow maybe)," she said.
Wilson Dalay, who claims ownership of the tree, said those who are availing of the Gmelina tree's liquid can do so free of charge.
"Bisan usa ka sentimo walay mausik kaninyo dili ta mangayo og bayad ako lang ihangyo nga kong kinsa man ang nakakuha na palihog sa pag-share sa ilang mga silingan (Not a centavo is being taken we are not asking payment. I am just asking that those who availed of the tree to please share it with their neighbors)," Dalay said.
Dalay said he had the liquid administered to his wife as well as to other women who wanted to be cured of their illnesses.
"Suwayan lang gud nato...naglisud ang panahon karon pamasin-basin nga makuhaan ilang balatian (Let us take it as a challenge...times are hard in the hope that we could take away their pain)," Dalay said.
Many people have trooped to the area to obtain the liquid from the gmelina tree with some coming from Surigao, Butuan, Valencia and Bukidnon.
Isla de Oro residents earlier got alarmed when flies swarmed the gmelina tree. They later found out that that juice started to come out from the tree which tasted like the local coconut wine "tuba." (from Sun.Star Superbalita)
