Methods
of communication with the other side have been improving thanks to the new
technology developed by man, leaving behind the traditional methods of
contact such as the ouija board, automatic writing, and even the medium's
trance. These days the computer, camcorder and the VCR have proved to be
much more efficient channels of communication and demonstrated the existence
of something beyond death. These new attempts of contact are already known
as "transcommunications", and a major world expert in this field is German
professor Ernst Senkowski.
In simple terms communication can be defined as an interchange of
information between two speakers or open systems able to influence each
other. The special signals that one sends to the other "transports"
information through space and time and is received by the other. In this way
different forms of communication can be specified.
The range of normal organic communication, which takes place through our
sensory organs [sight, sound] is limited to our immediate surroundings. For
this reason, a large part of our contemporary technical efforts have been
concentrated in designing apparatus such as the telephone and radio, with
the aim of overcoming great distances. Both these apparatus are constantly
used in our daily life and are completely accepted by the scientific world.
The reverse is true for other, more ancient systems, such as telepathic
communication, which are considered as "paranormal" and rejected by the
great majority of scientists. The reason is clear -- these lack a reasonable
theory which could explain the results obtained by investigators, whose
conclusions would otherwise be respected. It is evident that there are some
important factors which impede the official recognition of the reality of
telepathic communication: on the one hand it is not possible to find a way
to define the method of tranference, nor to measure the energy signals; on
the other, the time-space distance between two communicants ceases to be
pertinent. The consequences of recognizing the reality of mental
communication between the inhabitants of this planet would be impressive
indeed: to have demonstrated that evrything and everybody are
interdependent, and that nothing nor no-one can be separated, would
completely demolish the conceptions of the world in general.
Such extraordinary communication presents another important aspect: if
the possibility of a conscious life after death isn't dismissed, then people
who are physically dead could make telepathic contact with psychic mediums
in order to transmit messages from the beyond to our world, which would
coincide with the spiritual traditions and the practical experiences of
seances.
The actual moment of contact has always attracted accusations of
technical manipulation. The instrumental transcommunication, such as
produced during the last nearly five decades, appears to combine the
telepathic faculties of the human investigator with the psycho-physical
interactions between the mind and material energy, which result in the
technical documentation of communications from other planes of
consciousness. The majority of these "trans-contacts" manifest themselves
through distinct audio-visual apparatus available for domestic use, or in a
minority of cases through special equipment. In this sense, the term
"instrument" should be regarded as an abbreviation for "with technical
assistance" or "with the help of technology", and the prefix "trans" refers
fundamentally to the process of transcending the frontier or virtual space
which separates our waking consciousness from the mental spheres which have
been until now unconscious.
From the beginning of this century there have been many attempts to make
contact with the dead through electromechanical means. Some of these -- if
we believe the records -- were successful. Celebrated inventors, such as
Marconi, Edison and Tesla tried to overcome the distances between the two
worlds using technical methods. During this same period, the psychic mediums
repeatedly predicted the future reality of communication with the beyond.
But until the tape-recorder was invented in the 1950s, and all the world
could acquire one, it was impossible to document the first apparent
intelligible non-terrestrial voices. Since then many hundreds of people in
more than a dozen countries have studied these "tape recorded voices". In
the majority of cases voices appear which are clear and comprehensible,
giving names of people who are dead, and speaking to the investigator and
responding to questions; furthermore, describing accurately the geography of
the surroundings and details of the experiments. Time and again, it was
re-stated that "they, the dead, exist, and want to convince the world of
their existence".
From the beginning it has been evident that the phenomenon of fleeting
electronic voices (with an average duration of one and a half seconds) can
in no way be regarded as a satisfactory communication -- a longer message
and coherent dialogue is required. On occasions some investigators have
succeeded in recording a voice proceeding from a loudspeaker linked to a
radio receiver, using a normal radio emission as acoustic raw material to
promote the formation of voices. Probably the first manifestations of the
direct electro-acoustic voices were the studies and supporting documents
from the small Italian town of Grosseto in the 1970s, which consisted of
messages and dialogues lasting several minutes (Bacci, Capitani). During the
early years of the following decade, an American technical physicist
presented a total of twenty hours of communications, in the form of a
dialogue, using a special system conceived in collaboration with a physicist
and electronic technician who had died (Fuller). Lastly, the use of various
and diverse methods in Luxembourg and in three localities in Germany have
resulted in more contacts, both monologue and dialogue, but of very
indifferent quality (Locher, Harsch, Brune, Schafer and Senkowski).
News of the appearance of extraordinary voices on telephones surfaced as
long ago as 1917. On repeated occasions calls from people already dead have
occurred, sometimes in the presence of various witnesses. In 1980 two US
experimenters, the late Scott Rogo and Richard Bayless, published the
results of their meticulous investigations in a book which achieved a
certain popularity. On the other hand, one of the first completely
documented series of calls began in Germany in 1981 (Holbe). It is obvious
that in the question of telephonic voices it is very difficult to discount
the possibility of manipulation by people in our world, even though in this,
as well as other well-documented cases, fraud seems improbable.
But there are other curious cases. For many years voices have been
announcing their imminent appearance on the television, or their "arrival"
using this medium. Probably the first case was in Italy in 1978. The images
which appeared were recognized by various witnesses. In those times it was
not possible to record onto video tape, but seven years later, once again
the German investigator Holbe discovered isolated images amongst the chaotic
fluctuations recorded when he focussed a video camera on the TV screen
during playback. This method has been successfully used in Italy,
Switzerland, France, Spain, the U.S. and recently in Austria. On the other
hand, since 1986 static images and brief sequences have been captured in
Luxembourg -- on a TV receiver tuned to a channel with no signal emissions.
These occurrences were later confirmed by three German investigators.
The first important "disturbances" which affected a computer were noticed
in Germany in 1980, when the investigator asked the 'voices-entities' to try
to provoke them. There then appeared a series of letters, words, and finally
brief phrases, which referred clearly to a deceased friend of the
investigator. Four years later, an English professor who had no interest in
strange phenomena, spontaneously received on his computer strange messages
from an unknown source. During a period of fifteen months he interchanged a
series of three hundred "letters" in an "experiment of union across time".
It seems that a group of advanced entities living in the future, in the year
2019, had managed to unite our present as at 1984 with our past of 1546. The
communicant, called Thomas Harden, spoke a dialect of Old English
appropriate to that time and geographical location, and affirmed that he
lived in his present (1546) and was conscious of being in contact with
people in his future (1984). The truth of the existence of Thomas Harden and
some of the details of his life can be duly confirmed by referring to
ancient documents in Oxford (Webster). Lastly, in 1987 and 1989, in
Luxembourg and Germany respectively, another two series of trans-contacts
were initiated in the form of a dialogue through computer, both of which
continue at the moment.
At the moment the most notable development in matters relating to
instrumental transcommunication is characterized by the reception of
messages which seem to be inter-related by different investigators and
through diverse electronic apparatus. Whilst the voices on magnetic tape can
be obtained by more or less anybody who has an interest in so doing, and
sufficient patience to persist with the experiment, contacts of a higher
quality continue to be reserved to those few persons -- perhaps specially
gifted -- who devote themselves completely to their investigations. These
people started out just like the rest, but thanks to their prolonged and
intensive efforts have managed to develop their own psychic faculties.
Nowadays investigators have at their disposal over fifty monographs on
instrumental transcommunication in half a dozen languages, as well as
numerous reports from small collectives or larger associations which have
been formed in various countries. International conferences dedicated
exclusively to transcommunication now take place regularly.
The question of the existence of instrumental transcommunication should
interest any scientist with an open mind. If to the uninitiated the results
seem to be the result of magic, to physicists and technicians the results
are incomprehensible in the light of their training. The parapsychologists
are more familiar with extra-sensory perception (ESP) and psycho-kinetics
than with transommunication. Phenomena such as poltergeists are usually
manifested in the form of acts which are incoherent, even ridiculous,
brought about by unknown forces or energy, which sometimes reveal a certain
primitive intelligence. It seems that instrumental transcommunication
combines psycho-kinetics with valid information whose source escapes us, and
transcends ordinary scientific knowledge. There is no doubt that such
phenomena provoke a high number of problems which includes the whole range
of the sciences, from Philosophy and Theology to Applied Physics.
There is no human activity that is not affected by fraud, in spite of the
fact that all human social activity is founded on trust and confidence. It
could be that signals and their origins are misinterpreted, but as far as is
known the existence of the intentional manipulation and tricks has never
been demonstrated. What certainly exists is impressive data which supports
the authenticity of the phenomena in question. We will quote only two: is it
reasonable to suppose that investigators from a dozen different countries,
and who do not normally exchange information, could fabricate a world-wide
conspiracy which has lasted more than four decades? And what is there to say
about the evolution of these phenomena on a national and planetary scale
during all those years?
Unfortunately it is not possible to precisely identify the "beings" or
"entities" which appear as the source or "transmitters" of information.
Based on their own affirmations we can determine the possible sources of
transinformation:
HUMAN: Living People / Dead People
NON-HUMAN: Extra-terrestrials with physical characteristics
Unknown
Spiritual Being with Natural Energy
The content and form of numerous transcontacts, especially
those voices on magnetic tape, corroborate the spiritualist hypothesis that
certain dead people have found new methods to reach us. This is the most
simple explanation, and, at the same time, the most probable. There is no
way to prove the identity of the non-human entities, and it is extremely
difficult, if not impossible, to get an idea of their characteristics. At
the same time, it should not be forgotten that disbelievers prefer to define
transcommunication as the involuntary product of the sub-conscious faculties
of living people. It has been observed that the telepathic mediums, as well
as the persons in charge of operating the electronic apparatus, could quite
unintentionally introduce some of their personal mental structures into the
messages from beyond, making the different sources indiscernable. In spite
of this, the instrumental transcommunications appear to have structures
alien to our world and independent of it; structures which are beyond our
creation.
Apparently, the entities can manifest themselves in our space and in our
time, but their existence does not evolve in them. In other words, the
sources of transcommunication are not locatable. The hypothesis of the
"parallel universes which cross each other", or "superior dimensions"
advanced by some physicists perhaps coincides with the idea that other
levels of human consciousness exist.
Independently from whoever is involved, or from whence they come, the
influences which make our electronic equipment emit transinformation in
audiovisual form remains a mystery. In general terms the effects produced
can be considered as special cases of psycho-physical interactions which do
not fit into the accepted scheme of things in the present scientific world.
The attempts to explain by the entities involved contribute hardly anything.
In most of the cases they constitute only a combination of vague
affirmations. Sometimes a living person is designated as an "antenna" for
"superior vibrations", or as a spiritual light. If this is true, then our
technical aids are not affected directly brom beyond, but more probably the
investigator enters into telepathic contact and his intrinsic psycho-kinetic
powers are activated, which then have an effect upon the apparatus
It is difficult to bring about this process of communication without
distorting forces intervening: and it appears impossible to maintain it for
much more than a couple of minutes. Observation of the phenomena provokes
the impression that the deceased persons who produce the voices on the
magnetic tapes, which last such a short time, do not have sufficient control
over the process, whilst the so-called "superior beings" dominate it to a
higher degree. In our plane of reality "the techniques are no substitute for
the power of thought". Our "trans-interlocutors" have stated that they have
to speak in a simple language and project images that can be recognized. A
literal translation of the messages proceeding from such communication must
also be avoided. The only thing that has been clearly demonstrated is the
similarity and identification of the contents received in different places
and moments. All messages contain potential information which can be
accepted or rejected by the receptor depending on his/her personal
convictions.
It is not possible to be dogmatic about the value of the transinformation
manifested through instruments. In this respect there are two principal
points of view which must be put forward, but each "receptor" must judge for
himself.
The technical data of instrumental transcommunication, together with the
other extraordinary happenings which occupy the parapsychologists, clearly
show the limited approach and narrow character of modern scientists. Viewed
from this perspective, which is fairly neutral, the existence of these
phenomena constitutes an unequivocal message that human beings should
intensify their efforts to comprehend the "world" as a projection of special
states of collective consciousness. An investigation would be in the field
of psychophysics, and the direct interaction between man and machines will
require considerable financial investment. The latest reliable news in this
respect affirms that investigations are being carried out into psychic
phenomena on a major scale in specialized laboratories of various important
electronic companies.
The second perspective takes us into the spiritual domain. The messages
received and documented corroborate the essence of the assertions of the
psychic mediums, that there is conscious life after death in the many
abodes, encompassed by many religions, which are far more numerous than we
can possibly imagine. Life, in its diverse forms and interdependent
incarnations, appears to be a process of eternal experience and
apprenticeship. One theme that is common throughout is the recognition of
love as a fundamental uniting force in the morphology of all things.
Konstantin Raudive, one of the pioneers of investigation into the
manifestation of voices on magnetic tape, declared, apparently from beyond
the grave, that "man, in his capacity partially to transcend space and time,
belongs to many diverse spheres and dimensions". In modern times we refer to
"dimension of information" which is everywhere. The dualist division between
"this" world and the "other" world contradicts the idea of a "continuous
universe" postulated some 60 years ago by Stewart White, after maintaining
telepathic transcommunication with his dead wife Betty.
Our physical bodies make us feel imprisoned in our space/time, without
realizing that it is our mental power that establishes the frontiers. As we
can only deal with a limited amount of data, we have inbuilt limiting
mechanisms to protect us from an overload of information. Nevertheless, this
should not prevent us from opening our sights to other horizons.
Communication consists of the appropriate adaptation of dynamic mental
structures in order to construct superior orders. The intimate essence of
all real communication is the transcommunication in spirit.
