A man who vanished after leaving his office was found by American police 2,000 miles from home, convinced it was still 1987.
Terry Dibert was meant to head home to his wife and three children at the end of a normal day's work in Bedford, Pennsylvania, but instead vanished for a week and then turned up in Florida.
When questioned by police, all his answers proved to be 11 years out of date.
The 34-year-old claimed to be a 23-year-old part-time soldier, just married to young bride Julie, who was expecting their first child. Mr Dibert also spoke of a new car he had just bought.
But checks revealed that the army unit had left its base a decade ago, his car was nearly a museum piece and a firm he claimed to work for no longer existed.
The Daily Express reported that police finally tracked down Mrs Dibert, but when she showed photographs of their children to her husband he did not recognise them.
The cause of his 'time travel' was traced to a cyst that was pressing on his brain.
Surgeons carried out a four-hour operation to remove the cyst, and are now waiting to see if Mr Dibert will 'return' to 1998.
