DID CAMERA CAPTURE DIAMOND-SHAPED CREATURES?

In Novermber 2004, Kathy Skoda began to notice 'strange shapes' appearing in some of her photographs.

"They are perfect circles or diamonds, sometimes just a couple and sometimes alot", described Kathy in a recent email.

Her Sony Mavica digital camera is equipped with a zoom lens and after owning it for the past three years, she is familiar with it and what she might expect from it.

Kathy adds, "My 4 year old has started talking about her 'Little People' (and) when I asked her what they looked like, she told me that some were diamonds and some were circles. I asked her if they were diamonds like my jewelry, and she said 'no silly, they are diamond shaped'.

Kathy forwarded a number of images similar to the above. They do resemble flash reflection
of airborne dust particles and certainly many people have been able to duplicate this.

The images above and below both contain 'diamond' anomalies mentioned by Kathy and her daughter. In seeking to find a logical explanation for these it would appear that the lower picture exhibits features similar to light entering a multi-lens camera system. Three of the transparent triangles inline would seem to bear this out. The above image, however, has recorded a 'diamond' which is distinctly different and maybe something of a mystery.
