Two Lincolnshire pensioners say the moment that their window was smashed by a rock was like "being shot with a 12-gauge shotgun".
George and Sylvia Blow (both 75) were shocked when a stray rock catapulted into their living room window and shattered the glass.
This is the second time the unexplained phenomenon has happened at their North Hykeham home - odds which bookies have put at over a million to one.
Mrs Blow said: "We heard an almighty bang - it nearly shot us out of the chair.
"My first thought was 'Oh God, not again'. I've never moved so quickly."
They believe the rock was thrown up by a passing car but the house is a significant distance from the road.
Mr Blow added: "To be honest, I thought I'd been shot by a 12-gauge shotgun."
Ladbrokes bookmaker's spokesman David Williams said: "The odds of it happening once are enormous but the fact it happened twice makes it doubly bizarre.
"I have calculated the odds of this happening a third time to be approximately 1,250,000 to one.
"They have to be the unluckiest couple we've ever heard about. The chances of it happening once are very slim but to have it happen twice marks them out as seriously jinxed."
