CROP WATCH 2002
FOUR FORMATIONS - PUNNICHY, SASKATCHEWAN
Four more formations reported in Saskatchewan, by CCCRN
field research
assistant Beata Van Berkom and Kevin Schlosser. Found
early September,
reported after another article on the Canadian circles
in the Western
Producer agricultural newspaper on September 12.
First is three circles in a triangular pattern joined
together by pathways
in wheat, approximately 20 metres (65 feet) across.
Counterclockwise lay in
all three circles. Two pathways laid from center point
toward two of the
circles, the other from the third circle toward the
center point. Sporadic
'burn marks' in the formation.
Second is a single circle in wheat, approximately 5.8
metres (19 feet)
diametre. Counterclockwise lay. About 1.6 kilometres (1
mile) east of first
formation.
Third is a circle with attached pathway in wheat,
approximately 18 metres
(60 feet) long. Counterclockwise lay in circle. Pathway
ends at edge of
crop field, next to a power pole. About 5.6 kilometres
(3.5 miles)
southeast of first formation.
Fourth is five circles in wheat (configuration not
known). About 6.4
kilometres (4 miles) southeast of first formation.
Initial ground photos have been added to the web site
for the first three
formations. Further details pending.
These are the fourteenth to seventeenth reports for
2002.
