Charles Teague And The Missouri Mystery Mound

Charles Teague has kindly provided FarShores readers with another update [see Missouri Mystery Mound] in this amazing saga. He says:

"We are planning on going up this weekend [May 18] and are going to report to you next week on our trip. Of further note, M J Smith, Dragonwalker has been a great help on investigating George Morgan. We located Dr Gregory Schaaf, who was given GM's private papers in 1977 by an heir to his estate.

"He wrote a book called "Wampum Belts & Peace Trees" featuring the first U.S. Indian Peace Treaty in 1776, with previously unpublished letters written by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock and more.

"Presently, Dr. Schaaf in Director of the Center for Indigenous Arts & Cultures in Santa Fe. He and his wife, Angie Yan Schaaf, write and publish the 'American Indian Art Series.' Native Peoples editor Dan Gibson recently reviewed the series, 'Bibles of Native Arts' (July/August 2002), p. 15.

"If any of the readers want to know about the Peacemaker they can read this update and contact Dr Schaaf at the center. His e-mail address is indians@nets.com. He is probably the best expert on the Peacemaker. We will be consulting Dr.Schaaf as our investigations continue.

"George Morgan was one of the most important figures of the Revolutionary War but he is relatively unknown except to a few historians. We will continue to update Farshores readers as further information becomes available."
