   DA VINCI's SECRET MIRROR IMAGES

Art buffs reckon they have uncovered a real-life Da Vinci Code hidden in the painter’s masterpieces.

They have uncovered a series of mysterious faces and secret images which emerge when Leonardo Da Vinci’s priceless works are looked at in MIRRORS.

In Dan Brown’s multi-million selling book The Da Vinci Code, art historian Robert Langdon tackles a murder case by solving clues buried in the Italian master’s paintings.

The artist, who lived between 1452 and 1519, was well known for using mirrored writing in his notebooks – so his private thoughts could only be read when reflected.

Now art experts have used the same technique to find bizarre images in famous works like the Mona Lisa.

The oil painting of the mysterious beauty seems to contain a face which looks like Star Wars villain DARTH VADER.

A similar image also appears mirrored in Saint Anne, The Virgin and Child.

The experts say it is meant to represent God himself – and inspire fear.

Another picture hidden in John the Baptist seems to show a woman being bonked by a tree.

And a mirror held against the Last Supper reveals what looks like the Holy Grail overturned on the table.

The boffins believe the artist literally points out his real-life code – by using characters to signal with their fingers where mirrors should be placed.

And they say that people in the picture also stare at the spot.

  • The images are revealed in new book
The Mirror of the Sacred Scriptures and Paintings.
