The North Vancouver RCMP is warning people living near Garibaldi Park to watch out for cougars.
Several people in the neighbourhood called authorities after seeing a large cat prowling about.
Over the years, cougars have been sighted in areas
throughout the Lower Mainland, mostly near natural woodland, but this time the sightings are even more worrisome.
A day care, attended by 25 children, is located on the outskirts of the park.
For the past two days the children have been confined to indoor activities.
