A woman from Manea is frightened of going into her garden after she had a first-hand experience of the mysterious Fenland "big cat".
Jackie Miller, of School Lane, saw the frightening feline when she was alerted by her daughter, who was walking her dogs last week.
"She came running in with her dogs saying there was a big black cat in the garden," she said, adding: "The Jack Russells were on their backs as she was running through the door."
They, along with Jackie's husband, turned on the security light that covers their back garden and Jackie couldn't believe what she saw.
"We put the light on and the cat jumped up onto a bench and over the fence. It was in my garden," she said. Jackie told her neighbour about the incident and she says they have seen something recently, too.
The incident has left Jackie spooked and she now won't go into her garden.
March woman Sue Langley also got in touch with the Citizen after reading last week's story warning pet owners in Manea to be vigilant.
It followed concern that a family's pet cat has been killed by a panther-like creature.
Mrs Langley was travelling by train from March to Peterborough on Saturday, March 8, when she spotted a creature between Whittlesey and Peterborough.
"It was in the open fields to the left of the railway track. I was looking out of the window and could see what looked like a black panther stalking by the side of a drain," said Mrs Langley.
At first, she thought it might be a black Labrador, but could see from its body movements it was not a dog.
"It was a big black cat. It was built like a cat and was stalking like a cat," said Mrs Langley, who told her family what she had seen when she got home.
Her daughter spotted the article in the Citizen about the Manea black cat and Mrs Langley contacted us with her sighting.
