A woman has reported another sighting of a mysterious animal, matching the description of the infamous giant cat that is thought to prowl the Somerset area. Wendy Pollard, of St Algars House, West Woodlands, was stunned when she spotted a huge creature out the corner of her eye by the Cheese Showfield when she was driving home one afternoon with her husband Jim.
Mrs Pollard, a volunteer with the Cats' Protection League, said: "My husband and I were driving along Bunns Lane and I spotted a strange creature.
"Although it was several yards away from the edge of the field I could see it was about the same size as that described by someone else."
Alison Hynam, of Beacon View, Colefold, reported a sighting three weeks ago when walking her dog in Vobster.
Mrs Pollard likened the creature to the size of a large dog and described it as having long legs, a round flat head, a mottled brown coat and a tail as long as its body that was lighter than the rest of its fur.
But when Mrs Pollard and her husband stopped the car the animal sloped off into the hedgerow.
"By the time my eye had engaged with my brain and I was able to ask my husband to stop the car we had travelled 100 yards and the animal was out of sight," said Mrs Pollard, 62.
This is the latest in a series of reported sightings of huge cat-like animals in the area around Frome.
A strange creature, fitting the description given by Mrs Pollard, has been spotted in and around Somerset over the past year and has travelled through Holcombe, Radstock, Paulton, Vobster and now Frome.
Mrs Pollard said: "Every time I drive down that road, I look out for it."
