MAN HAS BLACK PANTHER SIGHTING IN NORTHERN ENGLAND

A Deepcar man has claimed to have spotted a large wild cat - and says a further two sightings elsewhere back him up.

Alan Staniforth, 51, says he’ll never forget the day he came across the animal as it flicked its feet in a flipper-like fashion.

Alan said: "I was up on Stocksbridge golf course where I used to hunt rabbits and badgers. I've seen everything up there. You name it, I’ve seen it.

"I saw something walking on the green. There it was, just walking. At first I thought it might be a dog, but no one was with it and what would a dog be doing walking on its own?"

Indeed, it would seem a little strange for a dog unaccompanied on a quiet spot late at night, especially a dog which was “three times bigger" than the average size.

There was no doubt in Alan’s mind. He said: "It was like a black panther. I'd never seen one in my life at the time, but I know what it was.

"You could just tell in the tail and the big feet."
Doubts over the animal were quashed in Alan's mind when it displayed some non-canine characteristics.

Alan said: “There were silver birch trees on the golf course green. The cat drew up its claws and began to stretch on the trees.”

Alan was accompanied by his two dogs at the time, and both were acting strangely. It was as if they, also, knew something extraordinary was in their path.

Alan said: "I had to put them on a leash. I know if they did run after it, it’d kill them.”"

This sighting was around two years ago. It hasn't been the only recording of this kind.

Local media interest was rife around a year ago when someone claimed to have seen the large cat in Bradfield. Some time after, a doctor said he caught sight of a large animal in his headlights around the Hoyland/Penistone way.

Since then, no other sightings have been recorded.
