(Original Headline: 'BIG CAT' SPOTTED ON THE GREENWAY )
A 'Big Cat' spotted prowling the South Warwickshire countryside on Saturday has sparked a police warning for residents to stay on their guard.
The big feline was seen by Steve Wain, of Lower Quinton, whilst out walking his dog with his father along the Greenway, near Long Marston, at about 4pm.
Mr Wain said: “We both have a good knowledge of local and British wildlife. This animal was nothing we recognised and was clearly a big cat. We watched for five to ten minutes as the animal walked slowly towards the airfield, stopping periodically to look back.”
Mr Wain said the creature eventually leapt into a crop of maize and disappeared.
He described the animal as 2ft high, red/brown with a white chest, and having a 3ft long body, a slender, curved 2.5ft tail.
