MUTILATED SHEEP DEATH BLAMED ON UK BIG CAT |
|
(Original Headline: More Big Cat Rumours... )
This gruesome photograph shows a sheep in Oughtibridge, after it has been badly mutilated.
But what attacked the animal? Some would say it’s a dog, some would say it could’ve been a fox.
But there are people in North Sheffield who believe this is the work of a mysterious big cat.
Only last month, Look Local featured a report of a cyclist who claimed to have seen one of the creatures prowling near Penistone.
Paw prints also reportedly appeared in the mud next to the cadaver, and are said to have been much larger than those of a domestic cat.
A local man, who took the photo of the corpse told Look Local: “It’s not a dog that has killed the sheep. Dogs attack the head of their prey.
“The claw marks on the side of the body were massive. The paw prints in the mud were very clear, and they were certainly those of a large animal.”
The sheep was found just off Jaw Bone Hill, Oughtibridge, and is one of a few sheep that have been found dead under mysterious circumstances recently.
A Look Local reader sent in a research dossier about big cats in the area after reading about the sighting on the Trans Pennine Way.
There are many stories in the region, including a sighting of a lion and remains of a large cat being found.
After investigations into the cases, they were both found to be easily explainable.
The lion turned out to be a large pet rottweiler with a bad case of eczema, which meant it had to be shaven, apart from it’s head, giving it a ‘mane’.
The rotten remains of a large cat turned out to simply be those of a very big domestic cat. So is there really a big cat in North Sheffield? You’ll have to decide for yourself!
