SECOND SIGHTING OF BIG CAT IN NORTHUMBERLAND
  Posted Aug 02.05

(Original Headline: SECOND CAT SIGHTING )

There has been a second sighting in a fortnight of the mysterious beast of Tynedale.

The panther-like black cat was spotted by a County Durham family at Lowgate near the Rainbow Trust’s Fernstone House two weeks ago.

Shortly after, it was spotted by dog walker Marjorie Douglas, at Duke’s Wood, Hexham.

She said it walked across the path in front of her, from one side of the wood to another.

She said: “It was last Thursday, at about 10.30am when I was walking the dog in the wood.

“A very large cat crossed in front of my path. It didn’t stop at all.

“It had a very long body and was very dark in colour. It definitely wasn’t a fox or a domestic cat or anything like that.

“It was a very unusual sight because you don’t normally see something like that in the wood.

“There is definitely something milling about.

“These animals can cover such a big distance in such a small space of time so they could get anywhere.”
