Original headline: 'Giant cat' sighting in Dunbar area
A local taxi driver and his passenger had to do a double take when they saw a five feet long cat on a country road in the Dunbar area on Monday evening.
They were travelling to Oldhamstocks about 6.30 pm when the taxi driver from Dunbar was forced to brake for an animal which walked out in front of the vehicle near the entrance to Blackcastle Farm.
The jet black creature stopped for a few seconds, illuminated in the taxi headlights before it walked off into a wooded area.
The men describe the cat as being about five feet long and two-and-a-half feet tall, with a long drooping tail.

It was seen on the unclassified road, opposite Torness Nuclear Power Station, a mile-and-a-half from the A1 along the road towards Oldhamstocks and 200 yards south of the entrance to Blackcastle farm.
A police spokesman said: "There have been no other recent reported sightings of a similar animal in the area."
