Original headline: Mystery creature sighted
A learner driver stopped her car in disbelief when she spotted a mystery creature 'slinking' through trees just five miles from the scene of a possible big-cat sighting.
The second sighting comes exactly two weeks after brothers James and Russell Bloomfield were eyeballed by a puma-like creature in a Bungay meadow.
Sue Bidwell, from Lowestoft, was driving through Loddon on Saturday at about 10.30am when her husband told her to stop the car.
"At first I didn't see it because I was driving," she said. "As I looked across to my right we saw this big black cat about 300 yards away. It looked like a puma.
"We could see its long body, big head and long tail above the grass, which was a good 2-3ft high. The grass was covering most of its legs but when it walked he moved them above the level of the grass - there's no way it was a domestic cat."
She added: "We definitely weren't seeing things."
Mrs Bidwell said that although her husband had read the article in last week's Advertiser about the Bungay sighting she did not know about until he told her later that day.
"After it came round the trees it suddenly went slinking into a small wooded area," she said.
"We just couldn't believe our eyes, it was amazing."
Although the couple returned to the scene, on the edge of woodland between Loddon and Langley, soon after there was no trace of the animal.
They are reporting the incident to the British Big Cats Society, which monitors big cat sightings across the country. It can be contacted via www.britishbigcats.org
