South Lakeland's big black cat is getting bolder according to the latest sighting reported to police.
Geoff Brown, 52, was driving home through the Heron Hill estate towards Esthwaite Green on Monday night when he saw what at first he believed to be a black Labrador at the side of the road.
But as his car drew nearer the animal crossed the road and to Mr Brown's amazement he saw a large, black cat that he estimated to be 2ft 6 inches in height with a long body and tail.
Mr Brown said he was shocked to see the animal in such a built up area and reported what he had seen to the police who logged the incident.
Last year The Westmorland Gazette reported a sighting of the cat on Burton Road, Kendal, and there have been reports of the creature being seen in countryside around Helm Hill.
