Mystery Big Cat Spotted Eating Prey In Devon
[Original headline: BIG CAT SEEN EATING PREY IN DAYLIGHT]
A mystery big cat has been spotted eating its prey in broad daylight in the Westcountry.
Anne Spry was walking her dog not far from Crediton when she saw what she describes as a huge cat in a secluded grassy area.
Greyish-fawn with bright yellow eyes, a long bushy tail and pointed ears, Anne said it was the size of a spaniel, but with long legs and a long tail. When disturbed, the animal simply loped away.
Discussing the sighting with Anne Spry there is no doubt as to its authenticity. She felt the animal might be a lynx, but from her description I feel it might be a puma, a cat regularly seen in the Westcountry.
Anne said it was her first sighting of such a creature but she is well acquainted with dogs of all breeds and domestic cats. Her sighting was in broad daylight and she was able to gauge the size of the animal against nearby vegetation.
There is absolutely no reason to doubt the authenticity of the sighting, and with many tourists in the area we will almost certainly be receiving many more reports during the remainder of the summer. In the main they are quite harmless to humans and their dogs. What we do not need is for someone to shoot and wound one, for then there is no telling what a wounded and powerful creature might do. Simply leave well alone.
This is an important sighting which will add to knowledge of cryptozoological species in the Westcountry.
