THE FOSSIL FACED MAN Christer Stone |
|

I was about ten years old and was on summer
holidays which I used to spend with my parents
at my grandparents cottage, near Gothenburg in Sweden.
My brother and I used to catch lizards and
snakes in the area.
I discovered it by coincidence
when I was looking for reptiles.
It was half buried in the ground and only possible
to resemble an eye.
The eye made me curious of the rest so
I brushed some loose sand off it.
It was hard to get it loose from the ground
and I was afraid my older brother would see
me digging and claim that it was his find.
I covered it up with the loose sand and
ran to tell my mother about it and we went
back looking for the head but did not find it.
The stone head had been consigned to oblivion
but twenty years later I made a nostalgic trip to
my summer childhood area.
Sitting and looking at the ground I saw
something which resembled an eye.
Instantly I recognized and remembered the
find I tried to dig up so many years ago.
It clearly appeared to be a head of a man,
with very recognizable features.
Over 90 per cent of the discovered fossils are marine organism which explains the deficiency on mammal fossils and why only approximately 4000 human remains have been found. How can a head of a man be immortalized in millions of years old Cretaceous flint?
Does it really take millions of years for organisms to fossilize or can they form more rapidly?
The "Fossil Faced Man" is one of several ooparts (out of place artifacts)
and has been estimated to be millions years by geoligical theories.
This is extraordinary because we more than less supposed to be apes three million years ago and where is the fossil record from the apes by the way?
The deformation on the "Fossil Faced Man" depends on the directions of
the pressures within the strata before it had the chance to solidify.
A general opinion is that soft tissue can be considered extremely rare in a fossilized form.
In Australia there happens to be an area of about three hundred square miles in size where you can find millions of fossilized jellyfishes and in Morden Museum, Manitoba a complete skull of a small Mosasaur is displayed.
How can a 68 million years old T-rex fossil have been found with preserved fresh soft tissue? Scientists are hoping to isolate DNA from its thighbone.
