THEORY: IT TOOK BALLS TO MOVE PYRAMID STONES |
|
filed Aug. 07.06
Our friend Claudio wasn't about to be persuaded by Farshores' argument against his theory that giant stone blocks, forming the pyramids of the ancients [particularly the alleged Bosnian pyramid], were transported while balanced on stone balls - acting much like crude ball bearings. We suggested it was impracticable and preferred the theory that wooden rollers were used, instead, as transportation.
Claudio writes: "I don't agree with this explanation, BTW the builders put stone tiles between sand and balls, the balls where forced to roll forward being between 2 'rails', helped by grease!
"It was easy to put ahead to the large stone blocks the 'canals' left behind and so on, as well as sailors do with wooden cylinders to put out sea their ships!
"Easy, isn't it?"

Well, you make it sound and look easy, Claudio, with another fine illustration! ;)
Archaeological excavations are continuing at Europe's so-called Bosnian Pyramid discovery.
On the website's latest update [July 23], it was reported that samples of composite rock retrieved from the site were found to be “unnaturally hard”, and might be manmade.
Earlier this year evidence emerged that a number of large stone spheres had also been located and recovered nearby [see link to story below], and while no-one involved has offered a satisfactory answer for the presence of these manmade artifacts, FarShores' longtime correspondent, Claudio Pisani, of Italy, has arrived at a somewhat unique solution to this particular mystery.
He writes: "I'd read your headlines about Bosnian pyramids and was very puzzled about those odd 'spheres' found there.
"I did a 2+2 operation in my Bio-CPU (brain!) and the result was...THOSE BALLS HAD BEEN USED TO MOVE LARGE STONES!
"They worked like a kind of primitive 'ball bearings', holding them between a wooden rail it was very easy to make travel large and heavy stones needed to build pyramids everywhere!
Those balls may had been 'squared' after the big job and put on the top of each pyramid (where monoliths are smaller), so we didn't find them at Giza.
What do you think?"
Well, it's certainly a novel idea but I'm not sure that similar stone spheres have ever been recorded as turning up at other pyramid sites, such as those in Egypt, China, South America and elsewhere.
Could a string of such balls adequately support large, enormously heavy, dressed blocks of stone without them rocking from side to side and thereby making transport that much harder?
Variations and consistency of terrain might add significantly to the problem of forward travel.
Sphere's, unlike wooden rollers, for example, would have a propensity to dig their own holes in soft earth and sand.
FarShores thinks it an unlikely suggestion but is greatful for Claudio's theory, nonetheless and also thanks him for a great accompanying illustration!
If you have a unique idea on how the monoliths of the ancient were transported, often across vast distances, please let us know.
