Long-time contributer to FarShores and discoverer of the Missouri Mystery Mound, Charles Teague was last investigating this ancient and historical puzzle on the ground last fall.
The area continues to throw up new mysteries and from his home in Memphis, Charles sent along this photograph of a rock he recorded while at the site in late 2004.
Triangular-shaped, the rough slab bears a convincing carving of a somewhat elongated skull. It takes little imagination to determine both eye sockets, nose, cheek bones and teeth set within a narrow and pointed jaw.
Natural erosion? Perhaps but this latest find is just one of a great many anomalies, including other carvings, already found scattered throughout this remote area.
