  MONTEVECCHIA: ITALY'S GIZA
  Posted June 17.03

The intriguing and recent discovery of three pyramids in the town of Montevecchia, 40 km from Milan in northern Italy, was first brought to the attention of FarShores in April when correspondent and archaeologist Marco V. Varese provided us with the following link:
www.lombardiainrete.it/turismo/Storico/articolo.asp?Id=127.

At the time, Marco noted that these ancient structures had been located and identified only through analysis of satellite and aerial imagery of the area. Overgrown and covered by the debris and vegetation of perhaps thousands of years these pyramids are perfectly aligned with the Orion constellation, just like those at the Giza plateau in Egypt.

WM Mag coverNow, FarShores can bring you further photo's kindly forwarded by Georg Wojnar, editor in Chief of WM magazine [web site: www.mwm.cz], of the Czech Republic. The pictures represent actual pages from a WM magazine feature, following its sponsorship of a mini expedition by a Czech team of investigators to Montevecchia. These stunning layouts give us a brief glimpse of the area as it exists today plus the finds already uncovered at the site.

As Marco noted earlier, although these structures resemble hills, excavations already conducted at Montevecchia have proved beyond doubt that they are constructed of stone and are surely older than 3,000 years.

Our thanks also to Jirí Matejka, of WM magazine, for providing the following additional hyperlink: www.mwm.cz/CD/c1184.htm. Jirí was closely involved in the Czech expedition and is the author of several published articles also to be found in WM.

Please note all the above images have been compressed to speed up download times.
